To celebrate International Merlot Day on Sunday 11/7, we've made a Merlot based spritzer using pomegranate juice and fresh ginger simple syrup, the perfect fall cocktail!
For the Ginger Syrup
- 1 Cup Water
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Cup Chopped Ginger
For the Cocktail
- 1 Bottle Oak Creek Vineyards Merlot
- 1 Can 7-Up
- 3/4 Cup Pomegranate Juice
- 2 Tbsp Ginger Simple Syrup
- Pomegranate seeds optional garnish
Mix sugar and water in a pan and heat, mixing until sugar dissolves.
Mix chopped ginger into the liquid and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat and allow ginger to simmer for about 20 minutes.
Strain ginger bits out of liquid and allow the syrup to cool.
Mix all ingredients into a pitcher.
Pour into a glass over ice, garnish with pomegranate seeds and enjoy!
